The United States finds itself on a threshold of historical significance. What direction will we take? Many believe this election cycle may be the most critical of our lifetime.
The issue really is not so much about one’s political persuasion–there are decent and honorable men and women on both sides of the aisle–the consideration before us is whether or not we are willing to humble ourselves before God as we once did, repent for turning our backs on Him and renew our trust in a Sovereign Creator.
All across America, a groundswell of prayer and fasting is beginning to mobilize. There are multiple opportunities to answer this call and seek His face. I believe our response will have a profound impact on the future of America.
Second Chronicles 7:14 is a hope-filled promise for this hour. Notice the invitation does not entreat “the people,” but God says, “My people.” In other words, those who are willing to acknowledge Him are the real difference makers. We must vote with our knees before casting votes at the ballot box.
God’s gracious promise to Israel reveals His heart towards a people who trust in Him. Our country has done so in times of national challenge and experienced the same blessings of forgiveness and healing as a result.
God’s throne sits above all rule, all authority, and every government, president, minister, king, or nation–yet he looks for the humble and contrite. “For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His (2 Chron. 16:9).
Please join our leaders and millions of fellow citizens from every state and every walk of life, for a time of sober reflection and fervent intercession.
Will you answer the call? Pray for God’s favor and for His mercy and grace to heal our land. Pray for our leaders in all levels of government. Ask the Lord to give them wisdom and the courage to make decisions that honor Him. Pray for the preservation of our religious liberties. Pray for the men and women who serve to protect those freedoms.
September 28th will mark 40 days until our next national election. Join with me and the CPCF team as we come before God in prayer and fasting over the next 40 days. Following are a list of way to participate in prayer for America.
- America for Jesus – A National Solemn Assembly: A solemn assembly in Philadelphia on September 28-29 where tens of thousands of Christians will be gathering in focused prayer and fasting for our nation.
- The Summons – A Solemn Assembly in Washington, D.C.: An event with hundreds of leaders and citizens in our nation’s capital on October 3 -7. This is a moment in time for God’s people to stand in the gap on behalf of all Americans.
