Textbooks Guidelines Revised

In two party-line 9 to 5 votes yesterday, the Republican majority on the Texas State Board of Education adopted controversial changes to the state’s social study guidelines that reflect a more socially conservative viewpoint. AP reports that over 200 amendments were offered this week to draft standards that had been prepared over the last 18 months by groups of teachers and university faculty. Today’s Dallas Morning News quotes board member Don McLeroy who said the changes are an attempt to balance a curriculum that has been slanted toward liberal viewpoints. One of the curriculum changes involves students’ approach to religious liberty and church-state separation. According to a release from the Texas Education Agency, the following will be added to the Government curriculum standards:

Examine the reasons the Founding Fathers protected religious freedom in America and guaranteed its free exercise by saying that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, and compare and contrast this to the phrase “separation of church and state.”

Responding to criticism of earlier changes (see prior posting), the Board restored Thomas Jefferson to the list of political philosophers that students will study in world history. He was already included in the U.S. History and the Government curricula.

Right on right on! This is a great victory! But we must not become complacent. There are still volumes of truths that the liberal educators have concealed from the public mind. You and I, and more and more conservatives must arise to assure that these truths be taught to future generations! The Founding Fathers had a deep belief and respect in “Religion and Morality,” and “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.”
Benjamin Franklin, signer of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution said “A Bible and a newspaper in every house, a good school in every district – all studied and appreciated as they merit – are the principal support of virtue, morality, and civil liberty.”
Benjamin Rush, signer of the Declaration of Independence, and the “Father of the Public School” said, “Let the children…be carefully instructed in the principles and obligations of the Christian religion. This is the most essential part of education. The great enemy of the salvation of man, in my opinion, never invented a more effectual means of extirpating [removing] Christianity from the world than by persuading mankind that it was improper to read the Bible at schools.”

    Compare those words with the garbage that come from today’s educators, whose ultimate goals are to snuf out the faith of our Founders;

“Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill, because he comes to school with certain allegiances toward our founding fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural Being, toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It’s up to you teachers to make all of these sick children well by creating the international children of the future.”— Chester M. Pierce; Professor of Education and Psychiatry; Harvard

“Someone is always trying to summon us back to a dead allegiance: Back to God, the simple-minded religion of an earlier day. “Back to the basics,” simple-minded education. Back to simple-minded patriotism. And now we are being called back to a simple-minded “rationality” contradicted by personal experience and frontier science.” — Marilyn Ferguson; The Aquarian Conspiracy; p 128

“I am convinced that the battle for humankind’s future
must be waged and won in the public school classroom
by teachers that correctly perceive their role
as proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity
that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians
call divinity in every human being…
The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict
between the old and new — the rotting corpse of Christianity,
together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith
of humanism, resplendent with the promise of a world in which
the never-realized Christian ideal of ‘love thy neighbor’
will finally be achieved.” John Dunphy; The Humanist; January/February, 1983

We are at a crucial junction of time. If we want our educational system to mirror the values and principles of the Founding Fathers, then we must not let up or fall back asleep. These so called age of reason people are relentless, and they will never stop until they completely snuff out any reference to “Religion and Morality,” God, the Bible, Christianity, or anything else that has to do with faith from the Founding Fathers. It is up to you and I to keep that faith alive!

“FIX these words of mine IN YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. TEACH THEM TO YOUR CHILDREN, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk ALONG THE ROAD, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the Lord swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.” Deuteronomy 11: 18-21

    Father,
    I am so blessed….
‘He leadeth me, He leadeth me….’
You are my first and last thought each day. All praise to you!!!!
Psalm 143 “I spread out my hands to YOU, my soul longs for YOU….In YOU do I trust. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk for I lift up my soul to YOU. TEACH ME TO DO YOUR WILL. FOR YOU ARE MY GOD.”

I pray my life will bring you honor and glory. You alone will I serve!
Hear my prayer Father…bring our nation to our knees…put us under YOUR feet once more!!
In our Redeemer’s name, JESUS THE CHRIST, I pray,
    Amen.
